Shree Ramkrishna Charitable P.S.H. Project – 2002 (HIV/AIDS Center)

Category : Health

Shree Ramkrishna Charitable P.S.H. Project center is established in 2002 and located in the premises of V.N Godhani English school. With the staff of 9 people, it aims to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and its treatment to high risk behavior (HRB) groups. They work under the guidance and banner of Gujarat State Aids Control Society (GSACS) and the District Aids Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCO), both of which are subsidiaries of the National Aids Control Program (NACP). All their activities are funded by Shree Ramkrishna Welfare Trust and the services of the center are free of cost to the public. Their main objective is to spread awareness about HIV and STDs among migrant workers. Migrant workers are mostly from the diamond and textile industry and are potential High risk behavior (HRB) groups as emulated by GSACS. However many of them are ignorant about HIV and how it can be prevented. The center tries to bridge this gap through various activities promotion, management of STDs, behavior change communication, enabling environment, referrals and linkages & community mobilization.
